Only the finest metal parts are used in these banjos—heavily plated in either gold or nickel.The entry-level FHB-250 has no tone ring—but you’ll be surprised by its excellent tone and volume —and its light weight!

With a mahogany resonator and premium pre-war-style features, the FHB-250 banjo is the best introductory model with classic components. The banjo features a 3-ply steam-bent maple rim with a perfectly flat bearing edge for maximum acoustic contact with the head. It also has nickel-plated hardware, a M.O.P. “fan” headstock and fretboard inlay, a mahogany resonator, a one-piece mahogany neck, a rosewood fretboard and American Standard thread hardware. It comes with a hardshell case.

I am very pleased with this banjo. It is well made and consists of components. Since it has no tone ring, it has a more "woody" tone like an open back banjo, but louder because of the resonator. The price from Instrument Alley was competitive and shipping was fast.
