The new Vega Little Wonder is a remarkable achievement in blending a versatile, bright, responsive banjo with a very modest price. The sound of this banjo is ideal for old time music, both finger style and clawhammer, folk, classical, civil war era, ragtime and for classic turn of the century parlor music. (Nylon or gut string banjoists will find the response and character of this banjo appropriate for their styles) It is also a perfect choice for any player who wants a powerful, versatile banjo that is not too heavy. (Try this one with a few bluegrass licks and you'll see what we mean by versatile). The Little Wonder has a deep warm brown stained, three-ply rock maple rim and a rock maple neck. The satin finished neck is fitted with an ebony fingerboard, inlaid with mother-of-pearl dots. Many of the older Vega models in this range were made with softer wood fingerboards and multiple, veneer strip laminated rims for reasons of economy. We only use premium three-ply rock maple rims and ebony fingerboards for this outstanding banjo. We think you'll agree the tone and playability are worth the effort. The rim has 24 brackets mounted on traditional bracket shoes. The pot has one lower coordinator rod that easily and accurately adjusts the banjo's "action" or playability. The peghead of the rock maple neck is overlaid with black and there is a white Vega logo adorning the peghead. Guitar style tuning machines are used on the new Little Wonder in the tradition of the earlier Little Wonders. (Planet banjo tuning machines are available for a modest up charge) We do break with tradition however to put on a geared fifth string tuning machine for stability and ease of tuning. (Friction pegs may be traditional, but they aren't as enjoyable or practical to use.) The neck also has a two way adjustable truss-rod that allows you, the artist, to adjust the banjos playability or action to your own style and taste. Thus, the new Vega Little Wonder is the culmination of years of evolution and development, producing a powerful, folk and early style banjo that is as at home in today's music as it was in years past. Surpassing early Vegas in quality parts and craftsmanship, the new Little Wonder blends the best of today's technology with yesterday's classic tone.

Owning a Vega Little Wonder makes you a member of a select group of banjo enthusiasts who appreciate the deep historical sense of banjo and desire the warm, bright tone of maple crafted with a classical American aesthetic. Bearing the same peghead profile and neck shape of this vintage line along with the practical application of modern techniques to adjust the banjo through the truss rod in the neck, adjustable Deering True Tone tailpiece, and coordinator rod in the 3-ply violin grade maple rim, this Vega banjo is ideal for the player who needs a lighter weight instrument. The one piece neck has an ebony fingerboard with an engraved white star and Vega name on the traditionally shaped Vega peghead. With Deering planetary tuners, a flat armrest for comfort, and a 24-bracket rim for a fully adjustable head tension, this Vega Little Wonder a delight to see and play.

5 of 5 Great Service and wonderful instrument October 24, 2016
Reviewer: Jeff Siniscalchi from Fairbanks, AK United States
Banjo arrived on time, well packaged, and set up perfectly.  I could not be happier.  I worked with Ben and he went above and beyond to get everything right.  I will make future purchases from Instrument Alley!
Great banjo, perfect for claw hammer but also for three finger.  It has a sweet tone, nice neck and stays in tune.  A beautiful instrument that I will enjoy for many years.
